1. Exploring American History and Politics

Washington D.C. may not be all about history and politics but your visit here is not going to be complete unless you do get a chance to see those wonderful structures built to be the nation’s seats of power. The first place is of course, the White House, no Washington D. C. visitor should come without having a look at it. The U.S. Capitol is usually the next on the list of places to visit on the things to do in Washington D.C. The Capitol is where the American government’s legislative branch is housed. The north wing of the building is being occupied by the Senate while the south wing is for the House of Representatives. Other attractions that would surely interest you are the Washington Monument, the Lincoln Memorial and the Pentagon. The first was built in honor of George Washington, the first President of the United States. The second was a monument honoring Abraham Lincoln, the US 16th President. And the last place is the US Department of Defense’ headquarters.

There are many parks in the US capital, but the five hectare Meridian Park is definitely the most visited as it is indeed the most beautiful. This park offers interesting sights like a monumental cascade and the Joan of Arc and the Serenity statues.
